Dr. Robin Hargadon, C.Psych.
Dr. Hargadon provides a warm and respectful environment for her clients. Her practice is primarily focused on treating adult individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress related difficulties, relationship issues and issues specific to living with chronic pain and/or other health conditions. Clients are provided with clear rationale for the treatment plan before the work is pursued in a collaborative manner. Dr. Hargadon particularly enjoys the opportunity to provide service within an interdisciplinary framework that employs a holistic and co-ordinated approach to client service delivery.
Assessment services include Medical Legal assessments (Dr. Hargadon has qualified as an expert witness in Clinical Psychology), Occupational Health assessments, Independent Psychological Examinations and assessments for the purpose of treatment planning for individuals receiving insurance benefits (i.e., long term disability, WSIB).Professional Biography
Dr. Hargadon received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1994. She is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (#3013) and is registered to practice in Clinical, Health and Rehabilitation Psychology. Subsequent to completion of a clinical postdoctoral fellowship at the Pain Rehabilitation Centre at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1995, Dr. Hargadon held positions in hospital based, interdisciplinary pain programs at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto and St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. Between 2000-2006, Dr. Hargadon provided psychological assessment and treatment services to members of the Canadian Forces at the Operational Trauma and Stress Support and Mental Health programs at the Health Services Centre in Ottawa. Dr. Hargadon was the National Manager of Psychological Programs for the RCMP from 2007 to 2009. Subsequently, she divided her time between working at the Anxiety Disorders Program at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre and private practice from 2009 to 2011. Dr. Hargadon has been providing psychological services on a full time basis in private practice since late 2011.
Dr. Hargadon is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and the Ottawa Academy of Psychology. She has taught students of Psychology and Counseling and served as Practice Leader for Psychology at the Health Services Centre (Ottawa), Department of National Defence. Dr. Hargadon has published research in the area of psychological approaches to pain management and gives presentations to community groups on topics such as coping with chronic pain and other medical conditions (e.g., gynecological cancer, scleroderma). She pursues professional development via annual conferences, workshops, self-study (including review of current research regarding assessment and treatment issues) and regular consultation with peers. Dr. Hargadon is a registered psychological service provider with the Canadian Forces, Veterans Affairs Canada, RCMP, WSIB and numerous Long Term Disability insurers.
