Dr. Jessica Kurta, C.Psych.
Dr. Kurta provides evidenced-based individual therapy for adults, adolescents and older children for a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, mood difficulties/depression, interpersonal concerns, and difficulty adjusting to life transitions. She uses an integrated therapy approach that may include elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), schema therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy that is tailored to meet her client’s needs. In all of her work, Dr. Kurta places importance on establishing a warm and compassionate environment.
She offers parenting coaching/consultation for a variety of concerns such as child/adolescent behavioral, emotion regulation (i.e., ADHD) and school difficulties.
Dr. Kurta also provides psychoeducational and mental health assessments for children and youth to identify learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), giftedness, behavioral difficulties, and mental health concerns, including anxiety/mood. These assessments provide a comprehensive review of a child or youth’s strengths and needs, and recommendations to support their needs.
Dr. Kurta received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2015. Her previous clinical training was received in a variety of settings including CHEO’s Mood and Anxiety Team and their Behavioral Neurosciences Consultation and Liaison Team, the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre’s Anxiety Disorders Program, and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. She regularly attends professional workshops and seminars to remain current with her profession.
Dr. Kurta is a Clinical and School psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
